The most believable theory on the origin of name supports that it comes from the Arab word, Bad al Moiahda, which it means, Door to the Rió, since even before Alfonso X "The wise person" was founding the Honest Council of the Shepherds' Cattle-breeders' guild (in XIIIth century) the routes of the trashumancia were already passing for Valmojado.
This is one of the hypotheses that would justify for itself the reason for that the Arabs must name by Door the Rió, or more specifically in his language, Bab al Moiahda. Hypothesis that reinforces in addition to for the similarity of the Arab word with later name of our Town, with the fact that Valmojado for the long time was writing himself with "B". Later, and for reasons that are not known, he began writing himself as in actuality.
Thus in the year 1350, under the reign of Peter I, there already had full validity the so called "Step of cattle of Castile for Balmojado" also called "Position of Balmojado".
One might consider, nevertheless and how possible theory, which was doing during all this period of time, a use grammatically differently to that of our days, but this fact are of to emphasize it completely, given that in the same Real Letter of I privilege, previously quoted places are mentioned, as for example Valdiniebla, written with "V" of what easily one can deduce that the name of our Town cannot come then from the quite widespread duty consideration his origin to geographical situation of the same one, in a wide vale rich in water, since already then, as we can see everything regarding Vale, he was writing himself with "V".
We will have to agree then already the light of this information, that her more guessed right hypothesis is without place to doubt the one that supports that name of our Town comes from the Arab word: Bab to Mojahda. (Fte.-Texto Delegation to see link) |
